Reachd interviews Vanessa Fox at Pubcon Las Vegas 2007 rss xml feed

Rodney Bartlett of Reachd.com
interviews Vanessa Fox, an entrepreneur at Ignition Partners (formerly of Google.com and Zillow.com).

Excerpt text from video:

Rodney: So, we're going to ask Vanessa. If you were a Realtor, how would you market yourself or market your listings?

Vanessa: So, I think it's really important obviously to have a web site. I mean clearly that's the first step but, once you have a web site there's just some very simply things that will help. Really pay attention to what it is that your audience is searching for. You might even have two different types of audiences, buyers and sellers, let's say. So, I think it's really important to see what they are searching for, this is an an example that I've used for years, which is that. You might have a page that has houses for sale in the text but maybe no one is actually searching for houses for sale, maybe they're searching for homes for sale or real estate or they're searching for some other thing that's not exactly that.

I think people that are knew to the search space think that the search engines are smarter than they actually are and think that that they can make those connections. Oh, someone's searching for houses for sale and I have a site on real estate that there's going to be a connection there, and the truth is that it doesn't actually happen at all that way. So, definitely look to see what people are searching for and put those terms on your page, the title tag, the heading tag, the meta description and then somewhere in the content. Don't spam it, but make just sure those words appear. That's actually probably the number one easy thing that makes a lot of difference, so that's what I would do.
